Five on Friday - Fri-yay!

Hi, Friends! Does it feel like Tuesday to anyone else? I'm having a hard time writing this post, because it truly doesn't feel like Friday. I think the holiday made this week weird, but I won't turn down a Friday!

ONE.

Saturday we spent the day with Chris's family and we were able to sneak away for a kid free Costco trip. We bought ALL THE THINGS. Seriously, you can't even see it all, but it was amazing. You know you're a parent when Costco counts as a date.

I picked up this picture book, read the first page, and impulse bought it. It's so good.

Later that day, I got to spend some solo time with my girl at the park. She has such an imagination!

This was towards the end of our day of playing, drinking, and eating and I had to take a picture of my Lipsense looking amazing. Bombshell is such a great color for light make-up days. I'm looking forward to trying Senegence Shadowsense and Foundation soon. I've heard great things!

TWO.

My Land's End rash guard arrived yesterday! I love it! Hopefully I can test it out this weekend at the pool.

THREE.

Speaking of the pool...Zoey started swim class this week and it's been a struggle for her. She is adamant that she does not want to "go under" and cries when they get her head anywhere near the water. Any tips? I'm not a strong swimmer myself so I totally get where she's coming from, but I want her comfortable in the water.

This is what brother does during swim lessons. Ah the life of an infant.

FOUR.

Big girl bed success! Anyone need an IKEA crib? Zoey has been sleeping in her big girl bed with ZERO issues for the past few days. We had two days of waking up around 3 AM to hear a "squish, squish" of her pull-up walking into our room and a quick redirect back to bed was needed. We determined she just didn't know when to wake-up so a quick trip to Target for an "Okay to Wake" clock and I haven't seen her in our room before 6:15 since. I highly recommend the clock!

She even slept through this MASSIVE thunderstorm the other night. So impressed.

Now it's time to tackle potty training in earnest. *sigh* Any tips there?

FIVE.

Whenever I paint or draw with Zoey, she asks me to draw Disney characters. I can usually get by with a decent Minnie, but this week she asked for Daisy. I did some googling and found this awesome "how to draw" site. I had some fun...

Bonus cuteness from our library trip:

Have a fantastic weekend! Linking up!

See y'all next week!

Five on Friday

Hi there! I'm back for Five on Friday. I wasn't able to blog much for this week since we spent our weekend in Oklahoma to see this guy get his PhD!

Congratulations to my little brother (in-law), Mark! We are crazy proud! Also, check out that handsome guy on the left!

It's also been a brutal week of standardized testing. 16 hours with just me and my thoughts...I might be going crazy and I definitely haven't been very nice. BUT...TGIF and standardized testing 2016 is OVER!

1. Mother's Day 2016

This just made my year. All the tears.

2. We are potty training...!

I'd post the precious photo of my baby girl "tinkling" in the potty for the first time but I try to keep her social media presence down and posting potty photos would definitely come back to haunt her some day. She's been asking to "potty" a lot lately so we took her interest and ran with it. #pottytrainedbysummer

3. Book Binge

It's pretty apparent that I've been on a children's book binge this week! All of these books showed up on my doorstep today (oops). I recently attended an Usborne online book party and purchased several of these books from them. I need some time but I'll post a review soon.

4. Clean House

We recently broke down and hired a monthly cleaning service. I can't even handle how much this has changed my life. It is worth every hard earned penny and Wednesday was the best day this week!

5. STAAR Week

This is the only good thing to come out of being locked up for 4+ straight hours. Now that's what I call active monitoring!! Boom!

Linking up with a few of my favs - AprilChristina Natasha!

Happy Friday! See you next week!

Good Reads

Looking for a good book suggestion? Here are a few of my recent reads, good, bad, and decent...

Source

I checked this one out from our public library through the Overdrive app as an audio book. It was the perfect book to listen to while getting ready for work in the morning. Not one I would read again but it's intriguing and a fairly light read. I recommend it!

Amazing, dystopian YA. Read it now!

I read it for a book club and it was terrible. I had to find out what happened but I so did not enjoy reading it! I have no idea how it made it to the top of the best sellers list. Sharp Objects was the same, maybe worse. You've been warned.

This was such a cute, feel-good book! I would probably read it again. Anything by Sophie Kinsella is worth a read if you're looking for something light and fun.

This one is a non-fiction book that was suggested to me by my in-laws. It's quite an empowering read if you're an introvert - I learned so much about myself and others. Definitely worth the read no matter who you are.

Quick, funny read! She had me laughing out loud at times and who couldn't use a good laugh? I highly recommend this one and even more highly recommend Bossypants by Tina Fey.

I haven't been able to read more than a few pages of these two so far but they come highly recommended. Comment below with your good book suggestions! I'm always looking for a great book to read.

Happy Thursday - See you tomorrow for FRIDAY Favs!
