Five on Friday - Taking Time for Myself

Hi, friends! Happy Friday! I'm winding down my first week of the new school year and I'm thrilled to have kids back on campus. Things have been crazy so I'm taking a couple of weeks off from the blog. I'm hoping to have my professional life under control next Friday and be back on the blog. I hope you have an amazing weekend!

Just a few friendly reminders for my fellow chaos livers.

And one kid picture...if it weren't for them and my husband, I wouldn't have survived.

See y'all next week!

Five on Friday - Summer is O.V.E.R.

Happy Friday! I am officially back on contract now, even though I've been back, off and on, for a week or two. I'm excited to get back into the swing of school life - I've missed my teammates and teaching those little nuggets! I am having a hard time transitioning my mind from full-time mommy to full-time teacher/mommy though. I read somewhere that you'll never regret the time spent with your kids and that's so true. I may love my job, but my family will always come first and I feel pretty fierce about that!

ONE.

Zoey asked to paint my toenails after I did hers and I just couldn't tell her "no". So I picked out the brightest color I own (not sure where my head was just then, ha) and let her do it! And you know what? She did a decent job for her first time ever. I cleaned it up with a cotton ball and q-tip and I'm still wearing her impressive work.

TWO.

I took a day off and stole the kids from daycare on Wednesday. Before we headed out to play, we did stop by school for an hour to do a little more classroom organization. Luke enjoyed the new scenery and Zoey loved all of my whiteboards!

THREE.

Speaking of organization and redecorating...I changed up my borders and I'm loving the navy polka dot and festive pineapples. I just know my male counterpart is going to LOVE teaching in this room. I still have some work to do, so I have post its all over the walls to remind me of what goes where. I did leave a proportional amount of space for my roomie, don't worry.

FOUR.

I shared this on my Lipsense Facebook page, but I wore the darkest color I own to work today and had so much fun! Lipsense has totally changed my makeup world. This color did not budge all day.

FIVE.

Just a couple of encouraging quotes I found today. This is a particularly difficult time of year for me, as a teacher, but I think we all struggle from time to time. These are nice reminders.

I'm off to bed and then I'm going to enjoy a fun weekend with my family. Enjoy your weekend!

Five on Friday - Back to School?!

Happy Friday!! It is officially my very last Friday off before I'm officially back to work, although I've been back for a few days working on scheduling. I'm sad my summer with the babies is coming to an end, but I'm happy to be setting up for another year. I get so excited to start the school year, because it's a clean slate and there is so much potential to change the world! I was just thinking yesterday that I am seriously so lucky to have such amazing coworkers too - it makes those hard days about 1,000 times easier to navigate with good people to back you up, listen to you vent, and make you laugh. Life is good.

ONE.

Last weekend, we celebrated Chris's parents' birthdays and played with Chris's siblings! It was such a fun weekend. I'm lacking in pictures because the girls went wedding dress shopping and those photos are top secret! Both my children were exhausted after several trips to the pool and tennis courts though.

TWO.

Back in March, I sent out an invite to some girlfriends in the DFW area and proposed a Supper Club. Each person signs up for one month to host, they take care of everything for that one month and everyone else brings the drinks. 1 month of hosting, cooking, and clean-up and 11 months to enjoy everyone else's cooking. I hosted a very lack luster inaugural supper club in April and then, these ladies just took it and ran! It. Just. Keeps. Getting. Better. Love you, dear friends and I'm already looking forward to our August Supper Club!

Nikki really outdid herself. Look at those beautiful drinks and blueberry tarts!

THREE.

Y'all, I am having a blast distributing Lipsense! The thing I'm enjoying the most though are all the selfies people are posting on my page wearing their gorgeous colors and all of the positive, uplifting comments people are making on each other's posts! These posts make my day - more girl power, please!

FOUR.

I can't even with these two. They both had an AWESOME week back at school, even if they started unexpectedly and sooner than  I thought! Zoey has been in an amazing mood - I think she's been missing her friends, and Luke is loving hanging with babies like him. He gets so frustrated that he can't do what Zoey does all day.

Zoey got home on Wednesday and started singing "I've got sunshine in my pockets". Luckily, I know this one! I pulled up "Can't Stop the Feeling" by Justin Timberlake and she started singing and dancing! They must play this song at school - it was so cute!

This one turned 7 months old on Monday and I am soaking up all the baby cuddles I can get - it's going too fast. Slow down, time.

FIVE.

I'm taking back my classroom and setting it up like the Pinterest room of my dreams (it looks pretty terrible last year) - designed for my incoming students' needs. I spent a couple of hours on it while taking a scheduling break and it may be worse than when I started.

But check out my little personal space! I'm using the clipboards to hold the weekly agenda and lesson plans.

And my pencil area...I anticipate this will last a day, but I need better accountability on my pencils! You can't do math without one!

On my list left to do...set up an information wall, bell schedule, missed assignments. Hang my math alphabet. Flex seating. Data wall. Word Wall. Student files. Border refresh. Classroom management system. Not to mention the most important - lesson plans. Eeep!

But today, I'm taking the day off to be with my babies. Have an amazing weekend, you guys! Linking up.

See y'all next week!

Five on Friday - Split Personalities

Hallelujah - It's Friday! What a week it has been. I am just not good at living a double life as a stay at home mom and a professional educator, which is what I do from late July to early August, until my kiddos go back to school. I'm trying to put on a brave face and woman up, but it's emotionally hard. I just don't like leaving my babies, but I loooove my job. Anyways, I'm enjoying dipping my toe back into the school life and soaking up every minute I can being at home with the kids. Here's a look at my week:

ONE.

I was talking with a friend about business cards for her business and just sort of put this design together from some inspiration she threw my way. I also did a tip/thank you card for her along the same theme and I'm working on a fun design for a sweet coworker now. I am having so much fun playing around with Photoshop - it's a nice creative outlet. So how can I turn this into a business?

TWO.

I attended a PLC symposium on Monday and Tuesday, so while my babies were in the excellent care of my in-laws (thank you!!), I got to mingle with professionals for the first time in a while. I took the opportunity to wear my gorgeous new LLR Amelia dress and totally forgot my Lipsense! This dress is effortlessly fancy, I'm in love.

One of the breakouts I attended went over the workshop model in math...I am unbelievably excited to collaborate with my math teachers and try this in my classroom! Teacher nerd moment.

Day two, I did remember my Lipsense and LLR outfit number two was a classic and a black(!) Madison, complete with wedges. I do miss dressing up during the summer!

THREE.

Wednesday and back to SAHM role. We took a trip to the choochoo and fun was clearly had by ALL.

I forgot to mention, Zoey's been potty trained for two weeks! It was easy....and we sold her crib earlier this week, so she just really isn't a baby anymore. Gosh that happens fast.

I finally got Luke's six months photo done! It gets later and later each month....

Zoey also made muffins with minimal help from me! She's getting really good in the kitchen.

FOUR.

Totally random, but I went to get my car inspected (nothing like leaving it until the last minute) and it came with a free car wash (in which my car has not been washed since purchasing it 2 years ago). I had forgotten how terrifying these auto car washes can be! However, my car looks amazing.

FIVE.

Comparison is the thief of joy. I have to remind myself of this all the time. Just do you.

Now I'm off to spend time with my sis-in-law, Kim! Happy Weekend! Linking up!

See y'all next week!

Five on Friday - Frinally

Fri-nally Friday! YAS! This week was weird and a little bit brutal. I thought this was my last full week of summer, but found out on Monday that I had some meetings to attend. And so it has begun - this weird time of year where I transition back into the role of a working mom. I love being mommy and I love my job - it's tough.

ONE.

The week started off with a friend play date! We met up at an amazing park in Southlake - it was hotter than all get out, but the kids had a blast and it was so good to see some of my girls!

TWO.

I had meetings all day on Thursday so we made our library trip a day early. Zoey loves these stacking cakes and spends most of her time searching for them and then stacking them. Luke loves chewing on everything - which I'm sure has been touched and licked 8 million times already. I'm going to miss these little library trips with my babies!

THREE.

Back to work for some meetings! I have acquired some new LLR pieces here and there over the summer, so I'm excited to finally put the "work" pieces to use! I am a huge fan of the Cassie skirt! It was so great to see my admin team and so sad to learn that some of my dearest coworkers are moving on this year. Education is tough - people are always coming and going and often you don't get the opportunity to say goodbye.

FOUR.

It is hotter than all get out here in Texas, so we stayed indoors as much as possible today. This little guy must've missed me yesterday, because he woke up at 5 am so we could party! He's so cute, I don't even care.

First whole food - Banana!

And as the temp climbed to 101, we holed up in our game room, pulled down the shades and watched Disney Junior on the "big TV". I love air conditioning!

I made a Kroger run for beverages and ice cream and finally picked up this wine that was recommended by a blogger I follow. It is delicious. Go buy it now.

FIVE.

A dear friend of mine has become a Rodan + Fields consultant so I finally caved and decided to try some products! I'm dying to try a regimen, but I'm starting small with the eye cream and daily cleansing mask. Looking forward to seeing awesome results! Stay tuned. AND if you're interested in trying R+F for yourself, follow this link.

It's also been one week since I announced my little Lipsense business and I'm sold out from my first shipment! Luckily, shipment number 2 arrives tomorrow! Follow my Facebook page for stock updates, giveaways, and tips and tricks!

Have a marvelous weekend! Linking up!

See y'all next week!
